What we collect

When you text the Herald we store your phone number, the name you give, the invite code assigned to you, your faction membership and recruiter, and a log of your game actions. We keep the last few messages exchanged with you so the Herald can follow the conversation. Nothing else is collected: no contacts, no location, no device data beyond what the carrier includes with a text.

How it's used

Only to run the game: to reply to you, to notify you of moves that affect you, to show faction standings and a public chronicle of game events, and to compute the final results. Your phone number is never shown publicly. Your name is shown to other players as a short display name (first name, with a last-name initial only when two players share a first name).

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or messages with third parties for their marketing purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with anyone. Messages are carried by our SMS provider and a language model is used to interpret free-text messages; both act only as processors for this service.

Retention

Game records are kept for a short period after the conference so results can be published, then deleted. You can ask for your record to be removed at any time by replying to the Herald with a request, or by contacting the organizer.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. Text START to opt back in. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
